Processing of personal data

Within the scope of its statutory duties, the Committee R/I processes personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR) and the Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

We retain this personal data for as long as necessary to comply with legal obligations or to deal with the matter before us (for example, a complaint you have lodged).

Where necessary, we share this data with other public services or the relevant authorities. This may be the case, for example, in connection with a data protection complaint.

With regard to the exercise of individuals’ rights concerning their personal data, the Committee R/I is subject to certain legal restrictions (see, in particular, Articles 14 and 45 of the Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data). The exercise of certain rights, such as the right of access, will be affected by this. In certain situations, the Committee will not be able to provide the data subject with any information.

In connection with the processing of your personal data by our organisation, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (DPA). However, the DPA is not a supervisory body with regard to our responsibilities as a data protection authority.

If you have a specific question for the Committee R/I regarding your data protection rights, please contact us via our website or by email (info@comiteri.be). Given the wide range of the Committee’s statutory responsibilities, please specify exactly the context of your question.

This Privacy Statement is subject to change. We recommend that you review it regularly to keep up to date with the Committee R/I’s policy on the processing of personal data. This policy will always comply with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your computer to store information about you and your preferences. They can enhance your browsing experience by allowing websites to recognize your preferences or by saving you from having to log in again every time you visit certain sites.

Cookies usually have an expiry date. For example, some cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser (known as session cookies), whilst others remain on your computer for longer, sometimes even until you delete them manually (known as persistent cookies).

This analytics tool is hosted on our own servers. These are therefore first-party cookies. This means that we have full control over the information collected via these cookies. No data is passed on to third parties. We can therefore guarantee that this information will not be used for any other purpose. Your prior consent is required for the use of these ‘first-party’ cookies for analytical purposes. These cookies are therefore only installed on your device once you have given your consent.
